Where Do I Start?

It’s a bird, it’s a plane, it’s…a blog!

When I started to design the Inkstand, my vision was to create an approachable place for artists. Not a fancy gallery, just a simple space. A site outside any singular social media platform where we can always find each other. A network of artists, if you will. A community not run by algorithms.

Well, when I sat down to actually build the site, it started to come together differently than I expected. It turns out, featuring artists is just the beginning. There is so much beauty and creativity in the world. And all that beauty and creativity makes people feel all kinds of things. The Inkstand needed room for laughter and tears and joy and sadness and all of the messy angst that makes us human.

So, okay, articles, we need room for articles. Not just features on artists but room for what writers have to say. Room for what I have to say. But not a formal magazine or journal. Something more approachable. Casual. Comfortable.

A blog. It’s a blog. The Inkstand is a blog.

I wasn’t expecting to create a blog, I really wasn’t. But as my vision expanded and my site design became more complex, I knew I had to scale back. Back to basics. Back to blogs. Blogics.

Anyway, as I hope you can tell by this opening blog post, the Inkstand aims to give you an easy and safe place to land. Thank you for being part of its roots and its readership. Be sure to join our mailing list and give us a follow on Instagram. We are only just getting started.
